Auto Level is a necessary function because of the uneven terrain encountered on jobsites, even when a road or concrete slab is available to park on and set up the equipment. If the lifting platform is not leveled, up to 30% of the lifting capability can be
lost in just a few degrees of chassis tilt. The usual vehicle or machine platform employs outrigger beams that can be extended to
provide a wider stance. At the end of each outrigger beam there is a hydraulic cylinder with a pad on the bottom that extends to
make contact with the ground. The machine is actually lifted of the ground and supported by the outriggers when working.
